My Mom made sweet potato pies so much more often than pumpkin pie, that when my sister would visit friends, she'd come home and say "I had a good time, but her Mom's pumpkin pie tasted funny.".
As the older sister, I'd laugh, knowing that Mama had been telling her that sweet potato pie was really pumpkin pie (knowing that she wouldn't eat it if she called it sweet potato).
As a grown up, I'm happy to say that she knows the truth behind the pie and always asks for Sweet Potato Pie now :)
